2024 First Lady Erin Deming
Welcome Ladies to Tangier Shrine!
My name is Erin Deming and I have the honor to serve Tangier as the First Lady in 2024 alongside my beloved husband, Illustrious Potentate Bryan Deming. Our theme this year is “Shining a Light on Our Patients.” We will focus on our precious patients in the care of Shriner’s Childrens Healthcare network and Tangier’s membership by maintaining the beautiful building in which we serve, and the surrounding community.
First Lady's Message
What does it mean to be a Tangier Shrine Lady?
Tangier Nobles and Ladies’ mission is to care for the children of our community who can benefit from the unique and specialized care offered through the Shriners Children’s Healthcare Network.
We support the Omaha community and surrounding areas by transporting patients and their families to Shriners Children's hospitals and clinics, make blankets and donate gifts for our patients, coordination of patients' care supported by Tangier Shrine, and provide any other help that our patients may need.
Ladies are an integral part of Tangier Shrine. There are more than 35 Units and Clubs to participate in to fit each couple’s interests, many of which include ladies as part of their meetings or have their own concurrent meetings. Please visit the Unit and Club page of Tangier’s website to learn more.
News! Tangier keeps its membership informed by weekly emails about upcoming events. Please call the office to add your email to the list! Tangier also has a monthly newsletter, Hot Sands, to highlight all that Tangier is doing. Please visit the Hot Sands page on this website to read the latest version online.
Monthly Meetings! Stated Meetings are on the second Thursday of every month. Stated Meetings start with a dinner for all Nobles and Ladies together, and attire is Business Casual. After dinner, Nobles have their Stated Meeting while the Ladies enjoy a program with a variety of topics.
Joint meetings with Nobles and Ladies occur about once every quarter. Please read the weekly emails and the monthly newsletter to find out when these joint meetings are.
Children are welcome at the Stated Dinner and Ladies’ programs. Call the Tangier Office at 402-392-0404 the week of a Stated Meeting to provide your RSVP for dinner. We look forward to seeing you each month!
Additional ways ladies can be involved
Another opportunity for Ladies to get involved in supporting the Shriner's Children's Healthcare Network, is through the Daughters of the Nile Organization. For additional information on this organization, and Tangier's local representative group, please check their website at the link provided below.
Wife of a Shriner
I am the wife of a Shriner,
A man far more precious than Gold; His talents and virtues are finer,
And more than can ever be told,
He is jolly and gay ~ kind and friendly,
He still loves to frolic and play,
He follows the law, and the Golden Rule
From morning till night every day,
He is proud of the Shriner’s Fez he wears.
With the crescent and scimitar pin,
And I as the wife of a Shriner rejoice.
That he is kindhearted within,
To help crippled children get well again.
Is his heartwarming labor of love.
It makes him feel buoyant and young again,
With the blessing of heaven above.
Yes, I’m proud, as the wife of a Shriner,
That a gem of a man is he,
And I’m grateful beyond all recounting.
That God gave this Shriner to me.
