Tree Winnings & Taxes

The Feztival of Trees is a licensed raffle governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska. In addition, raffle winners must report their tree winnings on their taxes. A raffle is considered gambling by the federal government. Consequently, gambling winnings are fully taxable and you must report the income on your tax return. Winners must verify their identity and complete a tax form when picking up their tree. Read the relevant IRS publication here.
